Balloon Party 3 - Academy of Power

""It was the day of presentation. Twilight was standing in front of the class, taking in the serenity amongst the students. She smiled in anticipation, taking in the moment of calm for a moment, then spoke up. "Alright everypony. I hope you have studied well for your presentations. And I hope we’ll be able to do it within 4 hours, as Octavia will need this room for her class by then. Let’s start. Nexaka? Go ahead."

Twilight moved to the back of the class, and readied her pen and paper. Nearly four hours passed, with no interruptions inbetween, and Twilight’s expression kept on switching between worry, amazement, disbelief, and high-pitched enthusiasm. And after the last presentation, she happily trotted back in front of the class. “Thank you, Sound Guy. Alright. Wow, everypony. I have gotta say I am impressed. Never before in my teaching career have I had such good results. All of you should be very proud of yourself!”

Twilight handed her notes, per separate presentation, to the students it belonged to, with good grades on all of them. Her class brimmed with pride, some bumping hoofs, some hugging, cheering words of victory. “I hope all of you took notes as well. May what you’ve learned today help you on your future endeavours. Class dismissed.””

Wow, everyone. Balloon Party revived and back into action like never before! It shows, with this powerhouse of an album, Mindscapes. It shows once again how much talent and diversity our community has to offer.

A BIG thank you to all people who participated, and a BIG thank you to the people of the team. Academy of Power wouldn’t have been what it is without you!

Remix War VIII: Tour Across Equestria

“Equestria is a big place, you’ll need a guide.”

Welcome to the eighth round of MLR’s Remix War!

As with the previous remix wars, this contest is split into two parts.

Part one is creating a remix of another brony’s work. The same rules apply as all previous remix wars. One song only, the original must of been produced by a brony (no show songs), and preferably you should remix something that’s not been done over and over again.

Part two will be a collab challenge. The goal is to find another brony musician who you would like to work with and then create an original song based on a specific location or place in Equestria. This can be based on a town, a landmark, or a region. This song can be any genre, but it should capture some aspect of the place you make the theme for. Both partners can only submit one song.

So pick option1, option 2, or both! 2 songs max!

Thanks to Paleo for the Shoutout!

Thanks to Paleo for helping us get this highlighted when EQD...fell a little short. I should be on next Thursday with him and several people from the album talking about our admiration for SoGreatandPowerful and how we pulled off this secret album. Hope you get a chance to tune in and also hope you get a chance to check out the album on the link below.

Sori 52: a SoGreatandPowerful Tribute Album

This was a great project to be involved with and while it was a ton of work and a slightly delayed release (And The Rainfall pulled an all-nighter uploading this) i think people will love this free album as it’s got some great music for a great musician. It was hard to both get the word out about this project and keep it a secret from SGAP so it could be a surprise gift. Glad we were able to put something out that we were all proud of. Again SoGreatAndPowerful is an amazing artist we all love and we were happy to put together music that was a fitting tribute.

This album is free in mp3 and lossless. We would appreciate any help getting the word out about it's release. Thanks to all the amazing artists involved!

Second Chances

Second Chances Vol. 1 is out and it's free on bandcamp!
http://bronymusicandirectorypresents.bandcamp.com/

I think we really got some great music on this compilation and it’s in an array of different styles and just goes to show a great track is great whether it’s viewed by a hundred people or a thousand and hopefully this will give you a chance to know some brony musicians that you might have missed out on. Thanks to all who took part in this (whether you made it onto the compilation or not) and we aim to repeat this event on a monthly basis so we are also kicking off round 2 as well.

If you have a music track on youtube with less than a 1,000 views that was published between April and June of this year (that’s THREE months) consider submitting it for Second Chances 2! This time we’d like you to submit not just a youtube link but also a link to a WAV of your track (so i won’t have to scramble at the last minute like i did this first round). Like before there’s a few others rules but that’s the basic premise. If you don’t have music that goes that far back don’t worry. When we get to a third round in a month we’ll pick back up where we left on round one (Aug 16-all of Sep tracks and then just full months after that).

BMD interviews Eurobeat Brony!

Hello everyone! We're finally done with the long-planned interview with Eurobeat Brony himself. Grab some food and drink, because this is going to be a lengthy one.

It will provide you aspiring musicians with a lot of great information on how to improve yourself, get around in the music community and most importantly: be heard!

Remix Wars

What brought the mylittleremix site together (as home to hundreds of MLP artists) was a set of remix competitions called Remix Wars (originating in June 2011) which resulted in 4 rounds of community remixes over several months where the community openly collaborated with each other remixing each other's work. This spirit continues to this day with many great tracks continuing to get the remix treatment by new and old artists.

Remix Wars V is a go!

Round V - Genre Swap

“Let me fix your music”

The purpose of this event is just the same as the last four - this time around it’s very simple: find a song made by another musician in the community that you like and remix/rewrite it in your own preferred style and genre. This remix war will be different in that only ONE remix will be accepted per person due to the large amount of submissions we expect. You can participate in one remix and one collab total."

Completion date - September 1st.
