" I don't write in any particular genre, I just try to write what works and what sounds good to me, and as such I tend to mix things from all genres into what I make. Instead of remixes, I prefer to do a full cover with my own vocals. I try my hardest to tell a story to a listener with word and song just in the way a book would. I'm honored to be appreciated by such a fantastic group of people, and I can only hope to get better as time goes on." He often mixes electronic and rock elements, like frequently having electronic songs with guitar solos.

"I’m a musician who doesn’t like to tie himself down to one genre, but mainly deals with acoustic music (although I’m tinkering with electronic stuff at the moment!). I’ve been a brony since season 1, but didn’t start doing brony music until June 2013. I always wished I had started earlier, but then maybe I wouldn’t have the awesome songs to cover! I’m a self-taught pianist and guitarist, and I also play a little drums too! I’ve got experience in arranging choir and close-harmony acapella music for several voices, and my love for this probably comes out in my work. Vocal harmony is my favourite thing (maybe in the woooorld), which is why it’s usally pretty prevalent in my tracks! <3

Simply put, I will experiment beyond just one genre and as of recently I've been fusing together other forms of music, lets say dubstep drum beats and injecting a rich lush orchestral score to it. That's what goes into a "RiffMix." And with 6+ years of meticulous guitar shredding craftsmanship, it's no wonder why I have a show offy side when given the right opportunity. I've been featured on EqD once before, and composed exclusively for Solraction.

Disco / Funk

The sounds of the 70's are back in the form of Funk and Disco! We're betting that despite the fact Discord, Luna, and Celestia are the only ones old enough to remember it that you'll enjoy these reto funky sounds. Put on those flared jeans and bring out your disco balls. Even some disco oriented French House will do.

While there's not enough of either to search for, here are some highlights.

Feel free to recommend some artists (artists that  specialize in it) and tracks not included in here in the comments section.

Trap

Trap is characterized by deep, pulsating, hard-hitting sub-bass, 808 drums, sharp synth leads, and Dubstep elements (drum patterns, heavy bass drops, and a focus on low-end frequencies). A lot of the stuff that comes from the shadier section of Equestria (down south). While Trap Rap has some rapping, Trap itself generally does not.

Check out these artists who specialize in this music (or more than likely check out a few of those below)

Feel free to recommend some musicians (those that specialize in it), and tracks not included in here, in the comments section.

Swing / Electro Swing

http://bronymusiciandirectory.blogspot.com/search?q=swing

Whether its the vocal jazz crooning of traditional swing jazz or the updated and more modern Electro Swing (with bits of pumping house) it's a blast from the past. Granny Smith approves!

Check out these artists who specialize in this style of music.

Hello, I'm Lyde, or you can address me by my full name, The Lyde Octave. I am a very recent musician in the fandom and I have been wanting to do something like this for a long time. So far, the experience has been amazing getting to make my own music. I don't really know the exact genre I make most of the time, but I'll just call it electronic. I also work on Orchestral ad orchestral rock peices, mostly slow, mellow, sad or dark feelings to them, because I'm shy when it comes to acoustic drums. I am a very friendly and outgoing guy, so don't be shy to talk to me at all, I love meeting and helping new people! My uh, favorite character in the show is Lyra Heartstrings because... I don't know, she's just so awesome! my favorite of the 6 is Fluttershy because she's too damn cute! Kay.

"I like Jamaican music :) I invented a genre name for my music, which is Skaggamuffin. It's a combination of Raggamuffin- which is electronically backed reggae and ska. I sometimes make trap and 80s synthpop, if I'm in the mood. I make music mainly in garageband, because 1. it's easy and 2. it's cheap. Sometimes I use Logic, and will be getting new software soon. I've got lots of synthesizers, some old, some new, and some ones I made myself."

"I compose electronic music primarily with Sytrus and Harmor in FL Studio. I can't really stick with a specific style/genre.. I'm kinda all over the place when it comes to my songs. I have done a couple dubstep songs, some ambient, upbeat stuff, heavy electronic (think rock music, but electronic.. Best way I can describe it. :P).

I've been into composing music since I was 9, and have just started to make electronic music a year ago. I mainly (try to) compose soundtrack-y (mostly orchestral) music, and I love ostinatos (little melodic patterns that repeat a lot). I'm also a programmer, and it has been my main hobby (over music, actually), since I was 8. If you want to know anything else about me, or just want to talk, hit me up, I love talking with pretty much anyone (as long as you're not trolling =P) ^^

EQD Spotlights for November

http://www.equestriadaily.com/search/label/Music%3A%20Vocal
So here's BMD's playlist with all of EQD's spotlights of the month for  November. Just 25 of them this month (hey it was pre-season 4) ! We'll make sure to have December's playlist up by the beginning of next month. You can view previous month's playlists archived on the right hand side of BMD (midway down). Congrats to those who made the cut.

Top Brony Musicians of 2013

With season 4 starting up and 3 years of brony music in existence we have a rare opportunity to see who the top musicians of our scene are. Using the youtube subscriptions totals of each musician we have put together a ranked list of each. While there's plenty of great musicians under 1,000 subs we wanted to thank those who've done a great job of getting noticed and putting out great music for the community (and that's where this list begins at). Here's the prior list from 6 months ago. How times have changed!

If you see anyone over 1,000 subs who we have missed (which is very possible) let us know in comments and we'll add them to the list when we get a chance. We also divided the list into alicorns, unicorns, and pegasi to make it interesting. Anyone with ** after their name does more than just music so may have a sub boost there. PMV artists are not included. Musicians who have left and deleted their youtubes or their catalogs have been dropped but have an honorable mention at the very bottom. Remember that popularity is not the same thing as quality and that there is no reason for being butthurt over the brony community's favorites.

FimMusic has Launched!

So I think its about time to put a post on here about FimMusic which is the blog that several of us have put together as a news blog for both the Brony Musician Directory and MyLittleRemix.

We designed it so we could talk and blog about events, musicians, and things that happen on MLR and outside of it in the brony community. It's very much a music site designed by musicians for other musicians and those who still actively listen to and make this music in this community. We'd like to think that we can help get a little more visibility for those who need it as a community music blog. Just like on MLR its fun to be active and enthusiastic about the music we are still making about mlp. It's important to see what others are doing and what's going on in the community.
